Chinese Kangxi Brush Pot  Leads Locati's December Auction

Locati LLC is located in Pineville, Bucks County, PA. Locati hosted its last auction before the new year on Sunday, December 17th at noon. Co-owner Michael Locati states, "Our goal is to put together interesting sales each month, I felt like there were a lot of unusual items in this auction, like a pair of Korean wedding chests with horn veneer, a pair of Continental bamboo & rattan Parisian-style lounge chairs, and a barbell form Asprey cocktail shaker, just to name a few". There was a good selection of Japanese, Korean, and Chinese lots in the December auction, some great quality items. There was a lot of interest this past auction resulting in high hammer prices that exceeded estimates.

Locati said this auction had some nice surprises, including the Kangxi brush pot which had a lot of international interest. The Kangxi brush pot more than exceeded its estimate of  $1,500 to $2,000 by selling nearly seven times that for a total of $15,500 (not including the buyer premium). A small Japanese satsuma censer sold for $5,250. The censer’s estimated value was set at $300 to $600. Another example is a pair of Spanish Colonial 'Sagrada Familia' figures estimated at $500 to $700 that sold for $3,100 and an oil after Michael Gortskin Wywiorsky (1861-1926) that went for $3,800.
