Warm Weather Brings Good Auction Results



Every month there are more live bidders attending our monthly auctions. At the May 21 auction, the top seller was Lot 81: A Set Of Sixteen Chinese Floral Paintings On Silk, each in a hand-carved giltwood picture frame by 'D. Matt. With an estimate of $2,000 to 2,500, the set had a hammer price of $4,200.Other winning bids include a notable furniture piece, Lot 59: George I Burl Walnut Chest On Chest. This 18th-century chest had a realized price of $3,000. An impressive 19th century carved mahogany clock with its case retaining its original finish, Lot 357: Renaissance Revival Clock, J. E. Caldwell & Co sold for a hammer price of $2,700. A crowd favorite, with over 30 bids, LOT 43: A French Jade, Marble, & 18k Gold Frog paperweight which sold for a hammer price of $2,900 was estimated at $1,000 to $1,500.
